London Model Engineering Exhibition
The London Model Engineering Exhibition (LMEE) took place on 18th to 20th January at Alexandra Palace. This annual exhibition is regarded as the leading show of its kind in terms of size, content and attendance.
Over 50 clubs, societies and displays attended the exhibition and competed to win the prestigious LMEE Society Shield which is voted for by the clubs and societies themselves. The winner was Malden and District Society of Model Engineers, who repeated their 2012 victory, followed by Harrow & Wembley Society of Model Engineers in second place and the 7¼” Gauge Society in third place.
Over 1,400 models were on display across the spectrum along with seven fascinating railway layouts including the OO Gauge layout which celebrated 150 years of the London Underground.
Exciting demonstrations including remote controlled road and airborne action took place in the Model Active Zone and the Imagineering Foundation were on hand to talk to budding young engineers. Passenger rides behind the 5” gauge steam locomotives proved popular as did the Society of Ornamental Turners’ workshop.
